Getting Ready For Preschool....Again

So Thursday was supposed to be Jack's last Getting Ready For Preschool class and he was supposed to be moving on to a different class next week. After talking with his OT she recommended (as did the GRFPS teachers) that he repeat the class. He was just getting the hang of structured activities and interacting with other kids so they think its best if he just does it again. I know he'll enjoy it just as much the second time around and I'm hoping that after the holidays he'll be able to complete Leslie's class before he goes to KKI.

In the sleep world WE ARE DOING GREAT! I am beyond excited with our progress since Tuesday. Tuesday night , there was no change. His couch stayed pressed up against my side of the bed. Wednesday we moved his couch 6 inches away from my side of the bed. We had tried this before but it resulted in a meltdown and at the time (almost midnight) it wasn't worth the huge fit (parenting fail, I know.) and we moved it back. He didn't seem to notice the 6 inches and for the first time in weeks, didn't constantly reach over to grab my hand during the night. He tried once to get in bed but we sent him right back to the couch and he didn't seem to mind. Last night the couch was moved another 6 inches away and then a foot down. Now his bed was a foot from ours and a foot down from the headboard (if that makes any sort of sense). He didn't try once to get in bed with us and slept happily on his couch with his plethora of friends. Tonight the couch is against the wall, about a foot and half away from our bed and about 2 feet down from the headboard. Steve being at work tonight seems to bed affecting him a bit and he keeps grabbing all four Theodores, Buzz, Woody, Scout, a book and two trucks and trying to sneak into bed. I'm being consistent and sending him packing for the couch but damn! It's hard. I KNOW that he needs to go back to sleeping in his room but there's something comforting to me about having him snuggling in bed with me while Steve's gone all night.

In other news I met another Mom a few weeks ago because her son was in the same GRFPS class as Jack. I found out Thursday that he did Out Patient therapy at KKI for feeding. It was amazing to meet someone else that went through it especially because like Jack, her son's eating disorder was caused by behavior. Just thought I'd share. It's nice to meet someone else who knows what you're going through.
